IMPORTANT NOTE TO MIDDLE SCHOOL MATH USERS:  
You must download the most recent Macromedia Flash and Shockwave Players (Plugins) to use your online program.  You can do so at the Macromedia Download Site.  

Logging In

Logging in to Holt Online Learning provides you with secure and personalized content.

TEACHERS: To create a login account to access the Holt Online Learning website you must first register. There are two ways to register for an account:

• Go to The Holt Online Registration web site at http://register.hrw.com.
• Go to The Holt Online Learning Web site at http://my.hrw.com. Click the Register button under “I’m a New User and need to register for a program” to create a log in account for yourself.

Once you have successfully created a login account, select Add Students to create user accounts (User Names and Passwords) for your students.

STUDENTS: Your teacher will provide you with a User Name and Password. If you have that information, you can log in now at http://my.hrw.com . If you do not have that information, please contact your teacher.

After you have acquired a User Name and Password, follow these simple login directions to access your personalized Holt Online Learning home page.

1. Go to The Holt Online Learning Web site at http://my.hrw.com
2. Type your User Name and Password.
3. Click the Log In button. Your personalized Holt Online Learning home page displays with a list of your programs.

Computer Requirements

To use Holt Online Learning Programs, you must have a computer with the following minimum specifications:

• PC Pentium/300MHz or higher, using Windows 95, NT 4.0, 98 Second Edition, 2000, ME, or XP
• Mac Power PC 7600 or higher, using OS 8.0 or higher

Holt Online Learning requires a minimum of 32 MB of RAM, although 64 MB is strongly recommended.

Browser Requirements

• Your browser must be Javascript-enabled
• You must also have a secure SSL connection, Port 443 enabled
• Holt Online Learning supports the following browsers (see table below)

Internet Connection Requirements

To use Holt Online Learning, your machine must be getting at least 56kbps throughput.

You can check your bandwidth here.

We highly recommend broadband or a DSL Internet connection for better performance.

Screen Resolution

Holt Online Learning is designed to run at maximum performance at a screen resolution of 800x600.

To change your screen resolution for a PC:

• Click Start on the Windows task bar and select Settings, then Control Panel.
• Locate and select the Display icon in the Control Panel window. The Display Properties dialog box opens.
• Click the Settings tab. In the lower right corner of the Settings window, find the Screen area slide bar.
• Check your resolution setting. If your resolution is not set at 800x600, drag the slide bar to that setting.
• Click OK.
  
  To change your screen resolution for a Mac:

• Click your Apple menu and select Control Panels.
• Select Monitors from the Control Panels menu. A window opens with monitor settings.
• Check the Resolution box to find your setting.
• Click 800x600 if that is not your current setting.
• Close the window.
